2025 REVIEW

The highlight of the year was, once again, our annual concert at Milton Ernest Garden Centre. Although the weather was less kind than in previous years, a large and appreciative audience ensured the day was a great success.

2025 also marked the welcome return of our themed concerts, presented this time in an intimate cabaret format at Bedford & County Golf Club. Our series included An Evening with Count Basie and Ella Fitzgerald, The Best of British featuring the music of Ted Heath and His Orchestra, Rhapsody in Blue – an all-Gershwin celebration – and we rounded off the year in style with our ever-popular Big Band Christmas.

The feedback was outstanding, and we’re delighted to say that “STT Clubhouse Thursdays” will return in 2026.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2026…

Rehearsals were already well underway for our first Clubhouse Thursday event of the year, A Tribute to the Music of Gordon Goodwin, when we received some very special news:

Roy Holliday — affectionately known as “the old drummer” — will be celebrating his 100th birthday at the end of March.

To mark this remarkable milestone, on 19th March we will be performing a selection of music spanning the 25 years Roy spent with Swing’s the Thing.

Come along and meet the man himself, it promises to be a wonderful evening of memories and music — not to be missed.

For those who enjoy our performances at Milton Ernest Garden Centre, this year’s date is 12th July — with more details coming soon.

Finally, we will shortly be announcing the date for our 2026 “Party on the Green” at the Golf Club. After last year’s weather forced us indoors, we’re hoping for sunshine and a welcome return to the great outdoors.
